La pasada noche del domingo 22 de febrero se celebró en Hollywood uno de los eventos de referencia del séptimo arte: la noche de los Oscar. Por nuestra parte, las “colgadas”, además de querer saber quiénes eran los galardonados con la estatuilla dorada este 2015, estábamos ansiosas por descubrir los looks de cada una de las asistentes.

Pero este año la Red Carpet nos ha sabido a muy poco, han faltado asistentes que se caracterizan por un estilo impecable y lleno de personalidad que siempre nos encantan (Angelina Jolie y Brad Pitt, Penélope Cruz, George Clooney, Charlize Theron, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elsa Pataky y Chris Hemsworth, entre muchos otros…), y muchas de las celebs que sí asistieron no nos han cautivado en absoluto con sus elecciones para una noche tan especial como ésta: ni uno de estos vestidos pasará a la historia, o sí, quizá sólo uno.

Last Sunday night, February 22nd, was held in Hollywood one of the reference events of the 7h art: the Oscar night. The «hanging», in addition to wanting to know who were awarded with the golden statuettes this 2015, were eager to discover the looks of each of the attendees.

But this year the Red Carpet has been almost unnoticeable. Attendees characterized by impeccable style and full of personality that we usually love have not attended this year (Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Penélope Cruz, George Clooney, Charlize Theron, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth, amongst many others…), and many of the celebs who did attend did not captivate us with their choices for such a special night like this, neither one of these dresses will make history, or yes, maybe just one.

LAS MEJOR VESTIDAS / THE BEST DRESSED

Gwyneth Paltrow: es la única excepción a nuestra opinión generalizada. La actriz lució un vestido en pale pink de Ralph & Russo, sin duda uno de los colores que más le favorece. Asimétrico, con una manga larga la cual se caracteriza por un gran rosetón en el hombro. Un vestido entallado, que marcaba a la perfección su silueta aportando sensualidad. Todo el look: vestido, make up, peinado y complementos minimalistas creaban un outfit perfecto, la actriz desprendía feminidad y elegancia en todo momento. Estaba RADIANTE. Para las “colgadas”, es la favorita de la Red Carpet sin lugar a dudas.

Gwyneth Paltrow: the only exception to our general opinion. The actress wore a Ralph & Russo dress in pale pink, undoubtedly one of the colors that best favors her. Asymmetric, with a long sleeve which is characterized by a large rosette on the shoulder. A fitted dress that showed her figure perfectly bringing sensuality. The whole look: dress, make up, hairstyle and minimalist accessories created a perfect outfit, the actress gave off femininity and elegance throughout. She was RADIANT. For the «hanging» it is our Red Carpet favorite undoubtedly.

LAS QUE SE ESFORZARON / THE ONES THAT TRIED

Lupita Nyong’o: 6.000 perlas marinas formaban el vestido custom-made de Calvin Klein seleccionado por la actriz. Lupita estaba muy guapa en esta joya, aunque nos gustó TANTO el año pasado, fue tan de 10, que este no podemos decir lo mismo. Aún así, creemos que se ha esforzado, siempre es original, atrevida y distinta, y por eso está aquí hoy.

Lupita Nyong’o: 6,000 marine pearls form the custom-made dress from Calvin Klein chosen by the actress. Lupita was very pretty with this jewel, but we liked SO MUCH last year’s, it was a 10, so about this one we can’t say the same. Still, we believe that she has tried, she is always original, daring and different, and that’s why she is here today.

Jennifer Aniston: fue una de las sorpresas de la noche, no tanto por su outfit, si no por la ausencia de nominación a mejor actriz después de su papel protagonista en “Cake”. En su caso, la actriz acudió a la 87 edición de los Oscar con un vestido en dorados de Versace. Su look es perfecto en ejecución: un vestido que acentúa su sensualidad gracias al escote corazón y las aberturas al final del vestido, y que lo luce con máxima elegancia. El vestido, junto al maquillaje y las sandalias, cerraban de la mejor manera el look. Es una opción muy correcta.

Jennifer Aniston: was one of the surprises of the night, not so much for her outfit, but by the absence of nomination for best actress after starring in «Cake». In her case, the actress attended the 87th edition of the Oscar in a Versace golden dress. Her look is perfect in execution: a dress that accentuates her sensuality thanks to the sweetheart neckline and the openings at the end of the dress, and she wears it with utmost elegance. The dress, together with the make up and the sandals, closed in the best way the look. It is a very correct choice.

LAS SIN PENA NI GLORIA / THE ALMOST UNNOTICED

Emma Stone: casi siempre nos encantan sus looks. En este caso nos gustó bastante tanto el make up como su peinado, un semi recogido de su melena midi pelirroja. Pero por otra parte, aunque el vestido de Elie Saab escogido para la ocasión le quedaba espectacular y nos encanta su textura y la maxi abertura lateral en la parte de la falda, nos falla su color, creemos que este tono lima no le favorece en absoluto a la actriz. Esperábamos un poquito más de ella.

Emma Stone: we almost always love her looks. In this case we liked quite both the make up and hairstyle, a semi upsweep from her red midi hair. But on the other hand, although the Elie Saab dress chosen for the occasion looked great on her figure and we love the texture and the lateral opening in it, the color fails, we believe this lime tone does not favor the actress at all. We expected a little more of her.

LAS PEOR VESTIDAS, QUE NOS HAN DECEPCIONADO / THE WORST DRESSED, THAT HAVE DISAPPOINTED US

El caso contrario, son las elecciones por parte de las actrices Scarlett Johasson y Jessica Chastein, creemos que ambas actrices son las menos acertadas con sus looks para la Red Carpet.

The opposite are the elections done by the actresses Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Chastein, we believe that both actresses are the less successful with their looks for the Red Carpet.

Jessica Chastein: escogió un Givenchy azul oscuro casi negro, no es que no le favoreciera, le marcaba una figura espectacular, pero pensamos que quizás el escote era “too much”. Ella nos tiene acostumbradas a sorprendernos con looks en los que prácticamente encarna a una diva del viejo Hollywood, nos hace transportarnos a la época dorada de los años 50. Es un estilo que caracteriza especialmente a la actriz, y ya lo asociamos con su estilo y personalidad, por eso con la elección de éste vestido nos ha “defraudado” por que esperábamos más.

Jessica Chastein: chose a dark blue almost black Givenchy, it is not that it didn’t look good on her, it marked a spectacular figure, but we think maybe the neckline was «too much». She has accustomed to surprise us with looks in which she plays the roll of a diva of old Hollywood, and transports ourselves to the golden age of the 50s. It’s a style that characterizes the actress, and we associate her with this style and personality, so the choice of this dress has «disappointed» us because we expected more.

Scarlett Johansson: lució un vestido de Atelier Versace en verde esmeralda. No podemos discutir que la forma del vestido le sentaba perfecta al cuerpo de la actriz, y todavía más sabiendo que hace sólo 5 meses que dió a luz, pero creemos que con otro estilo la actriz hubiera explotado mucho más su sensualidad, feminidad y elegancia. No nos gustó nada la combinación del vestido con ése maxi escote junto con el collar de pedrería del mismo tono, demasiado recargado. Igual que tampoco nos convence su nuevo hair cut en absoluto.

Scarlett Johansson: wore a Versace Atelier dress in emerald green. We can not discuss that the shape of the dress suited perfectly to the body of the actress, and even more knowing that she gave birth only 5 months ago, but we believe that with another style the actress could have exploded much her sensuality, femininity and elegance. We did not like the combination  of the maxi neckline with the jeweled necklace of the same tone, too exagerated. As neither convinces her new hair cut at all.

A pesar de que la alfombra roja se quedó muy lejos de la de la última edición, a las “colgadas” nos sorprendieron gratamente algunos de los looks escogidos para la post party de después de la 87 edición de los Oscar, la famosa fiesta de Vanity Fair. ¡Qué alivio!

Although the Red Carpet was far from the last edition, the «hanging» were pleasantly surprised with some of the outfits chosen for the post party after the 87 edition of the Oscar, the famous party of Vanity Fair. What relief!

LAS MEJOR VESTIDAS / THE BEST DRESSED

Y es que hubieron outfits elegantes, con toques divertidos, estilosos y muy acertados. Hubieron looks que no dejaron indiferente a nadie. Nuestros 5 favoritos son los siguientes:

There were elegant, with funny touches, stylish and very successful outfits. There were looks that did not leave anyone indifferent. Our 5 favorite are:

Natalie Portman: se decantó por un diseño de Dior en blanco empolvado que dulcificaba a la actriz, muy sobrio, sin escotes y de manga larga, con un aire nupcial por sus detalles abotonados en las mangas y la cola. Una elección muy elegante, la cual remataba con un recogido bajo ladeado y maxi joyas. Estaba preciosa.

Natalie Portman: went for a Dior design in white powder that sweetened the actress, very sober, without neckline and with long sleeves, with a bridal air because of the buttoned details on the sleeves and tail. A very stylish choice which finished off with a low side upsweep and maxi jewelry. She was beautiful.

Poppy Delevingne: con un estilo boho chic, diseño de Emilio Pucci, iba muy elegante y con un toque de estilo sesentero. Poppy dejaba a un lado el sobrio negro y lucía un precioso vestido en ethnic print muy colorido y favorecedor. Las joyas y make up escogidos redondean el outfit y lo hacían de 10. ¡Nos encanta! Es atrevido, original y DIFERENTE al resto.

Poppy Delevingne: with a boho chic style, Emilio Pucci’s design, she was very elegant and with a touch of sixties. Poppy put aside the sober black and wore a beautiful dress in colorful ethnic print and very flattering. Jewelry and make up round the outfit chosen and make it a 10. We love it! It’s bold, original and different from the rest.

Karlie Kloss: es una de las modelos del momento, un ejemplo de estilo a seguir, con personalidad y carisma. Asistió a la fiesta con un vestido degradé en negro, con semi transparencias, muy sexy pero con decoro, sin sobrepasarse. Lució el vestido con taconazos del mismo color que el vestido y una melena rubia perfecta.

Karlie Kloss: is one of the top models of the moment, an example of style to follow, with personality and charisma. She attended the party with a gradient in black dress with semi transparencies, very sexy but with decorum, with restraint. She wore the dress with high heels of the same color and a perfect blonde mane.

Naomi Watts: para ser una femme fatal no hace falta ir con vestido, y así lo demostró la actriz, con un outfit muy masculino. Acertó luciendo un traje pantalón y chaqueta cruzada ceñida a la cintura con un espectacular escote en V ,combinando el blanco roto como color protagonista del look con el negro del cinturón, sandalias y joyas. Nos fascina el toque extra femenino que aporta el peinado de ondas al agua en su melena midi rubia y el color burgundy en los labios.

Naomi Watts: to be a femme fatale you do not need to wear a dress, and so this way did the actress prove it with a very masculine outfit. She shot wearing a suite with a blazer tied at the waist with a dramatic V-neckline, matchig off-white as the main color of the look with a black belt, sandals and jewelry. We love the extra feminine touch that brings her water waves hairstyle in her blonde midi mane and the burgundy lips.

Chanel Iman: nos cautivó con este espectacular vestido de encaje en nude. Un color que por su tono de piel ¡le queda ideal! La trenza romántica ladeada, el clutch y los complementos acaban de crear un look perfecto, que Chanel Iman sabe lucir y explotar mejor que nadie.

Chanel Iman: wowed us with this spectacular nude lace dress. A color that for her skin tone fits perfect! The romantic braid aside, the clutch and the accessories just create a perfect look, which Chanel Iman knows how to defend it better than anyone.

LAS PEOR VESTIDAS / THE WORST DRESSED

También nos sorprendieron, pero esta vez de forma negativa, las siguientes asistentes a la fiesta de Vanity Fair, con looks que, según nuestra humilde opinión, eran demasiado exagerados o no les favorecían.

We were also surprised, but this time negatively, with the following Vanity Fair atendees, with looks which, in our humble opinion, were too exaggerated or did not favor them.

Marion Cotillard: es una actriz que nos encanta por su dulzura y sus facciones tan “belleza francesa”, pero esta vez creemos que ha arriesgado demasiado. Escogió un vestido midi, con demasiado volumen en la falda, falda que no casaba para nada con el cuerpo de pedrería. Creemos que con otro outfit hubiera estado espectacular, es una pena.

Marion Cotillard: is an actress that we love for her sweetness and her «French beauty», but this time we believe she is too risky. She chose a midi dress with too much volume in the skirt, that did not match at all with the body of rhinestones. We believe that with another outfit she would have been spectacular, it’s a shame.

Liberty Ross: la actriz y modelo se decantó por un vestido de gasa semitransparente asimétrico, con mangas regias y un bordado oriental con colibríes de colores en todo el cuerpo del vestido. Somos de la opinión “menos es más”, y este vestido juntaba demasiadas cosas en uno y no le favorecía en absoluto, le sumaba años y no le estilizaba.

Liberty Ross: the model and actress opted for a semi-transparent chiffon asymmetrical dress with regal sleeves and Eastern embroidered with colorful hummingbirds around the bodice. We are of the opinion «less is more» and this dress gathered too many things in one and did not suit her at all, it added years and didn’t look good on her figure.

Marisa Tomei: fue una de las invitadas que más arriesgó con la elección de su outfit y creemos que se pasó. Se decidió por un one-piece en azul marino de pantalón baggy y escote asimétrico con plumas del mismo color. A nosotras nos fascinan los monos, pero en este caso no pensamos que ésta elección favorezca para nada a Marisa Tomei, con otro one-piece de otras características hubiera estado mucho más guapa.

Marisa Tomei: was one of the most daring guests when choosing her outfit and we believe she went to far. She decided for a navy blue baggy pants one-piece and asymmetrical neckline with feathers of the same color. We are fascinate by jumpsuits, but in this case we don’t think that this choice favors at all Marisa Tomei, with another type of one-piece she would have been prettier.

Ashely Green: con un vestido midi de encaje, en color verde oliva y complementos en negro. Es una elección discreta, sobria y elegante; aunque no nos convence el negro por debajo del encaje. Además, para la edad de la actriz, la elección es demasiado recta y formal, con este look se suma años. Elegancia no es sinónimo de aburrimiento, creemos que debe apostar por arriesgar un poco y dejarse llevar.

Ashely Green: with a lace midi dress in olive green and accessories in black. It is a discreet, sober and elegant choice; although we are not convinced about the black below the lace. In addition, for the age of the actress, the choice is too straight and formal, this look adds years to her. Elegance is not synonymous of boredom, we believe she should bet on risk a little bit and let go.

Rita Ora e Irina Shayk: las «colgadas» somos fans de las transparencias, y más en vestidos largos, y si tienen el plus de que son en color negro nos resulta una opción muy correcta para aportar sensualidad y elegancia a un outfit. Pero apostamos por ella siempre que sea en una medida correcta, ya que si no pasa a ser exagerada e incluso vulgar. Éste último caso creemos que es lo que define a los vestidos de Irina Shayk y Rita Ora. Son vestidos que sin duda no dejan indiferente a nadie, revolucionan nada más aparecer (todos hablan de Irina y su vestido), y aunque dan ejemplo de los cuerpazos de ambas que están espectaculares, creemos que son demasiados excesivos, no dejan cabida a la imaginación. Por eso decimos, ¡no a las transparencias tan exageradas!

Rita Ora and Irina Shayk: the «hanging» are fans of the transparencies, and more in long dresses, and if they have the bonus that are in black it is a right choice to bring sensuality and elegance to an outfit. But we bet on it in a correct measure, since otherwise it becomes exaggerated and even vulgar. The latter is what we believe defines Irina Shayk and Rita Ora’s dresses. These are dresses that certainly leave no one indifferent, they revolutionize when they appear wearing them (everybody speak of Irina and her dress), and although they show the spectacular bodies of both, we think they are too excessive, they do not leave room for imagination. So we say no to the so exaggerated transparencies!
